"For me home is where my art is. The nature of my existence has been that of perpetual searching, study and experimentation. What I am most interested in is composition. Every piece has my story in it. My desire is to communicate from my deepest heart. " |

I grew up in very difficult times
and my never-ending search for meaning stems from those tough times.
I have done much to overcome and art is my escape from this world. I am
privileged that people appreciate my work enough to buy it and hang it in
their homes or offices. Also, having the opportunity to paint liturgical
work for churches is a dream come true. To artistically express my love
for the Creator of all things is the biggest blessing of all. In college, I didn't pursue art as a career, instead I studied sociology, theology, and graphic design. I became a roaming philosopher. All that searching for meaning - it just kept overshadowing everything. ...Over the years I drifted through diverse careers from publisher to medical assistant to graphic designer and many things in between. The unevenness of my early life hasn't gone away. I admit that I continue to be burdened by my own personal issues, losses and heartaches, but I refuse to concede my life to the disorder contained within it. Instead, I want to leave behind something positive and be remembered for that. My relentless and uncompromising search for truth has given me spiritual insight. Creating art in and of itself is not enough for me. I am deeply moved by the people and critical issues of my time and inspired to express this passion artistically. I look for new ways to envision the function of art. I think of colors and shapes, not only in the subjective terms of beauty and appearance, but also in how these elements act as symbols to engage the viewer. Using an assortment of media, I try to create images out of my subconscious and translate them into something universal. Beauty and truth are always my artistic objectives. An idea for a piece comes from any number of places, a certain frame of mind, a news item. Sometimes it’s as simple as the canvas speaking directly to me. Most of the time I begin with a single color. The story unfolds as I paint, coming to life without force or coercion. A piece is done when the story is told. My work evolves from a notion, develops through intuition, and is evocative rather than descriptive. It is greatly involved with subjectivity and emotions, and even in the end remains transformable. I have many earthly influences: Paul Cézanne, Edvard Munch, Winslow Homer, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Willem DeKoonig, Mother Teresa, Jean Vanier, to name a few. From here, my intention is to continue to follow my own path. What the future holds I cannot say. Where I am going - I never know. Tomorrow I may give up painting forever ... NOT! Right now I need to paint, but tomorrow may be different. At the same time, I feel I owe it to my collectors to do everything I can to ensure future value in my body of work. I care about those who choose to own my work, and I always keep in mind their best interests. For me, home is where my art is.
